Worldfish is currently leading the implementation of the CGIAR Research Program on Aquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS) which aims to improve the livelihoods of those left behind by the Green Revolution. Through an innovative, community-centered, participatory action research approach AAS aspires to think differently about how agricultural research is undertaken and to be open in sharing the knowledge and learning it gains to the broader community.
The AAS Program is building its community-based research capacity and is looking for a dynamic, energetic team player for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- With the AAS Program Knowledge Management team, design and implement ex-ante, mid-term and ex-post evaluations of projects related to the AAS program in Asia, the Pacific or sub-Saharan Africa
- Together with the innovation and evaluation specialists, using excellent qualitative or quantitative skills to design data collection and its analysis
- Coordinate with partners to share knowledge and best practice for impact evaluation
- Research publication and other communications
Skill Requirements
- Familiarity with different stages of project/program cycle (design, implementation, supervisions, monitoring and evaluation)
- Strong qualitative and/or quantitative analysis capabilities
- Demonstrated quality of judgment and the ability to think strategically, assessing and responding to new challenges in rural development
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to present coherent and convincing strategic analysis; and
- Ability to travel extensively
- Strong academic publications record
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A completed PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development Studies, or related field, optimally with several years of relevant experience in rural development in developing countries
- Experienced in carrying out research on targeting and impact assessment, data collection and analysis
- Work experience in Asia or sub-Saharan Africa is preferred
- Fund raising experience and capabilities will be an added advantage
